Objectives
We aim to democratize robotics and AI education by addressing key barriers faced by teachers and pupils. We develop an inclusive, easy-to-use open-source robot platform with intuitive programming interfaces and human-robot interaction capabilities. Through comprehensive teacher training and ready-to-use educational materials, we build capacity for robotics education. We engage 1,200 pupils, promoting STEM interest while particularly encouraging participation from underrepresented groups.
Implementation
We develop a comprehensive curriculum and educational materials for robotics education, enhance open-source Robotont with inclusive human-robot interaction features and intuitive programming interfaces, simplify the setup, and optimize hardware for cost-effectiveness. We implement train-the-trainer programs for 110 educators across Estonia, Austria, Serbia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina, engage 1,200 pupils through hands-on activities, and build an open-source community to ensure sustainability.
Results
The project will deliver an enhanced open-source robotics platform with inclusive interfaces, a comprehensive educational package available in five languages, and a network of 110 trained educators capable of implementing robotics education. We'll engage 1,200 pupils across 40 schools. A self-sustaining open-source community will ensure continued development, while the robot lending model will provide ongoing access to hardware without significant investment from schools.
